Pediatric Professional Association

Are You Expecting?

Congratulations!

Welcome to Pediatric Professional Association!

Starting a family or welcoming another child into your family is a wonderful experience and truly a gift. Along with the beauty and joy of pregnancy, delivery, and then coming home, there are bound to be times when you have questions about how to care for your baby and family. We are here for you and your family every step of the way!

Pediatric Professional Association was started in 1964 by Dr. Russell Etzenhouser and Dr. John Nieman, followed by Dr. Edward Belzer and Dr. Donald Vannaman. They recognized the need for a collaborative approach to pediatric healthcare and we have been dedicated to partnering with families since then.

We believe in partnering with families to focus on preventative medicine and health education, encouraging you to actively participate in your child's health. We are excited and honored that you are considering us for your child’s care. It is always special for us to be invited by new parents to join in the care of a family member.

The continuity of care and the amazement of watching a baby grow and develop into a wonderful child is one of the primary reasons that we feel privileged to work in pediatrics.

What To Bring

  • Any paperwork from the hospital, including hearing screen results and immunization records.

  • Insurance information (if each parent has their own insurance policy, we will need both insurance cards).

  • Completed New Patient Forms prior to the visit to help make the appointment as smooth as possible.

  • Plenty of diapers and an extra set of clothes.

Before Your First Appointment

We do not require anything to be done before your baby is born! When the happy day arrives, simply inform the hospital staff that you have chosen us as your pediatrician. The pediatrician who sees your newborn in the hospital will guide you on when to call and schedule the first appointment. If you have any questions about the process, we’re always here to help you navigate this exciting time!

If you deliver at Overland Park Regional, they will notify our office once your baby is born. The doctor on call for our office that day will visit you in the hospital to facilitate your newborn's care during your stay and inform you when to schedule the appointment.

Before your first visit, you can download and complete our paperwork, as well as answer the questionnaire that will be sent to you via text.

Insurance Reminder

When your baby is born, contact your insurance company as soon as possible to add your new baby to your insurance policy. When each parent has their own insurance policy, your newborn will end up in a “coordination of benefits” scenario, even if you do not intend to maintain more than one policy for your newborn. You will be required to call both policies for Coordination of Benefits, regardless of which policy you decide to add your infant. Failure to coordinate benefits with BOTH insurance policies will result in claim denials and non-payment of claims.

You are responsible for any unpaid claims due to the failure to add your newborn to your policy within 30 days.
